                                           बंध का शाब्दिक अर्थ है- 'गाँठ', बंधन या ताला। इसके अभ्यास से प्राणों को शरीर के किसी एक भाग पर बाँधा जाता है। इसके अभ्यास से योगी प्राणों को नियंत्रित कर सफलता पूर्वक कुंडलिनी जाग्रत करता है। बंध और मुद्रा दोनों का अभ्यास साथ-साथ किया जाता है। पाँच प्रमुख बंध इस प्रकार हैं।  1. मूलबंध  2. उड्डीयानबंध  3. जालंधर बंध  4. बंधत्रय और  5. महाबंध। मूलबंध के द्वारा प्राणों का केंद्रीकरण  pelvic plexus  में, उड्डीयान बंध के द्वारा  Epigastric plexus  में और जालंधरबंध के द्वारा  carotid plexus  में होता है। मूलबंध अपान वायु, जो उत्सर्जन की क्रिया संपादित करती है को नियंत्रित करता है। उड्डीयान बंध अवशोषण क्रिया संपादित करने वाली समान वायु को नियंत्रित करता है। जालंधर बंध उदान वायु (जो भोजन निगलने और स्थूल शरीर को सूक्ष्म शरीर से पृथक करने की क्रिया स...
